People Praying During Ceremony In Bali

the balinese (surf) culture

In Balinese culture there is a philosophy known as Tri Hita Karana. It is the three causes of well-being and originates from the harmonious connection between humans, nature and the gods.

Water, and the ocean, plays a significant role in cleansing, prayer and ceremony for the Balinese people. To honor the water is something every surfer learns and every great surfer embodies, aligning with the spirit of Bali is not just beautiful, it is natural.

About surf culture bali

SCB wants to hold the Balinese spirit within surf culture, not only because it is beautiful and aligned, but also because it is important to honor the lands, water and people that are native to a place.

The ocean, similar to the Balinese culture, is welcoming, all-encompassing, and magnificent to observe. It is easy to feel at home here in Bali. The Balinese culture is one of the most inviting in the world. Sadly, we see that this pushes the Balinese surf(ers) culture to the background, because surfers from other cultures lay down their base here, ignoring the culture, and community, already existing on this island.

We believe that the Balinese surf culture should be evident and strong on this island.

We are on the Island of Gods after all.

OUR MISSION

As Surf Culture Bali, we are here to let surfers experience the local Balinese surf culture, and empower local surfers & artists by giving them a stage. We desire to bring forward and share the gentle power of Balinese culture.

We share products all designed and crafted by Balinese and Indonesian talents who are emerged in the local surf culture.

HOW WE GIVE BACK TO BALI

Our biggest inspiration is giving back to a community that already gives a lot to people outside their community and culture. The Balinese people make every visitor feel at home by accepting them as family. This is the same in the Balinese surf culture.

SCB wants to give acts of love and kindness back to this community. With a little bit of effort, we can create opportunities for Balinese youth to become surf legends on their own island.
